This report was prepared by Planet2025 Network at the request of the Dutch Programme Learning for Sustainable Development. It reviews and discusses key drivers and trends that could strongly influence the activities of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, such as emerging technologies, participatory culture, collaborative intelligence approaches, systems thinking, and serious games for social purposes and change.
Furthermore, this report shows how a collaborative learning tool, the Implications Wheel (I-Wheel), can be employed to perform strategic explorations of accelerating learning opportunities. It presents the initial results and experiences of a series of online and face-to-face international participatory I-Wheel sessions, and their relation to aspects of progress in the area of education for sustainable development.
